Ryan Ruocco: ‘I employ S.T.A.T.’

From Richard Deitsch’s column in The Athletic posted on August 5, 2019 …

Rare is the play-by-play broadcaster who morphs from the WNBA to MLB in the same week, but last week was quite a journey for Ryan Ruocco, who at 32 is one of the emerging multi-sport voices in sports broadcasting. “I’m obsessive about my prep,” Ruocco said. “I also employed Jeff Chapman’s S.T.A.T. company to electronically do my game boards for Aces-Sparks.”

In Rememberance

BO CHAPMAN [1983-2019]

S.T.A.T. remembers one of its founders, Bo Chapman, who died on Feb. 18, 2019 after suffering a brain aneurysm. This company was created in large part to take advantage of Bo’s encyclopedia sports brain and tireless work efforts in producing unparalleled reports. Bo was only 35 years old when he passed away, but spent those years doing what he loved to do and enjoying every day with a wide smile and hearty laugh.

STAT Factor Continues to Grow

We started STAT (Stats Tailored Around Talent) Factor in 2015 as an extension of the work we were already doing for certain broadcasters – they loved our work, and we figured: why not offer similar services to other broadcasters as well? With a client list of 100+ broadcasters in less than four full years, S.T.A.T. continues to grow almost exclusively through referrals – we enjoyed 350% growth from year 1 to year 2, had 81% growth from 2016 to 2017 and another 25% growth from 2017 to 2018. We authored report number 3,000 before our 3rd anniversary in 2018 and reached 5,000 reports before 2019 was over.

We know what TV people want and need… we cut through all the media, both local and national, evaluate the matchup, provide personal background info on key players and coaches, and do our own statistical analysis… perhaps just as valuable, our work is customized to each broadcaster’s desires. We are what our clients need us to be.

We support broadcasters in all the major sports – football, basketball and baseball – while also supporting all the other sports. We support all sports on the Samples page. This work was tailored around those broadcasters’ specific requests and needs, whether that be Play-by-Play, Analyst or Reporter. We are NOT a one-size-fits-all kind of service. And we are not a one-trick pony – ask us about mobile and traveling talent stats!

Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
